27th Annual Asian Festival, 2007.
Wichita Asian Association presented it’s 27th Annual Asian Festival in
Century II on Saturday October 27 from 5:30 to 10:00 pm.
Stage presentations Programs (dances) of the the following countries were presented:
Cambodia, China, India, Japan (2 programs), Korea (2 programs), Laos, Malaysia, Philippines,
Taiwan, Thailand, Vietnam.
Miss Asia Pageant: Representatives from Bangladesh, Cambodia, China, India, Laos, Philippines,
South Korea, Thailand, and Vietnam participated in the Miss Asia pageant. Miss Bangladesh won the Miss Asia title. As in every year she received a 24 carat gold pendant and cash prize. First and second runner ups also received $350 and $300 respectively.
All the other participants received $30 each.
Martial arts: Taekwondo from Kim’s Academy and Taiji Quan style of
China were presented.
Special invitational programs
We are particularly excited that the cultural specialist from Korean consulate from Los Angeles visited the Asian Festival
and presented a Korean puppet show which was very well received.
A Japanese dance group from Kansas State University present an award winning Japanese dance.
